About Boog In The Bays
Our Boog In The Bays sessions are located in the bay, which is the area nearest the shore. The Bays offer safe, gentle, whitewater waves and smaller open face waves, perfect for those who are learning to play in the waves.
These sessions are a great way to access the water and build confidence on a bodyboard while developing the basic, fundamental skills.
This session is in an isolated area of the pool to Surf In The Bays, and families are recommended to book the same session type if they wish to stay together.
Only bodyboards are permitted in The Bays, with bodyboard hire included in your session.

8-10 seconds per wave.
Waves Per Session
Around 10-12 per surfer.
Group Size
Surfer numbers are capped in each of The Bays, so you score plenty of waves!
Suitable for
Perfect for a first timer that isn’t quite ready to give surfing a crack and wants to get used to catching waves. If you want some guaranteed fun, catching white water waves on a bodyboard then this is the session for you!
The consistent waves and controlled environment, exclusively for bodyboarders, will allow you to catch plenty of waves, learning how to position yourself in the water, catch a wave, and ride it into the shore in the correct position.
Please note that higher fees may apply during high capacity sessions, as a dedicated Surf Guide will be made available to help enhance your experience.
Safety Overview
Please ensure that you have watched the safety video and completed your waiver before arriving. Please arrive 45 minutes before your session.
The water depth in The Bays is up to 1.2 metres deep, there are currents moving throughout the lagoon. We recommend anyone under the age of 10 to have a Surf Buddy in the water.

Day or Night
Our state-of-the-art stadium sports lighting makes early morning and night surfing in Melbourne possible, running until 10pm in the Summer months.
Limited Crowds
To ensure high wave counts, surfer numbers are capped in each of The Bays, per session. Surfer priority is managed with a strict but fair one-at-a-time system – wait your turn, and when your wave comes, it’s yours.
Boog In The Bays is capped at a maximum of 16 people per 1 hour session.

When you book in to Boog In The Bays, you’ll also receive 2-hour bodyboard hire and all-day access to URBNSURF Melbourne’s amenities, including parking, hot tubs, changerooms, landscaped spaces, and a free locker to store your valuables.
